War Horse Premiers at Hershey Theatre, Dec. 10 - 15

by EJ on 11/27/13

Over the summer, my eight year old finished War Horse by Michael Morpurgo and I promised her I'd take her to the stage play one day. That day is here and we are beyond ecstatic. If you're a huge fan of the story as we are, then you'll want to be at Hershey Theatre for the live stage play of War Horse

On December 10th through Dec. 15th, Hershey Theatre in Hershey, Pennsylvania is premiering War Horse by the National Theatre of Great Britain and winner of five 2011 Tony awards. Michael Morpurgo's beloved novel War Horse is the inspiration for the stage play as well as the major motion picture by Steven Spielberg, which earned six Oscar nominations including Best Picture.

The New York Times calls War Horse "theatrical magic"! War Horse is the story of young Albert and his horse Joey, a horse that has been enlisted by the English in World War I. Albert is heart broken when his horse is taken. During the war, the horse Joey finds himself thrown into both sides of the war and eventually in no man's land. Once Albert is old enough to enlist, he embarks on a mission to find his horse and bring him home.

War Horse is told through the use of some of the most impressive puppetry and stagecraft ever assembled. The touring play is directed by Bijan Sheibani and based on the original Tony Award-winning direction by Marianne Elliot and Tom Morris.
