PetCakes Review & Giveaway at Four Little Monsters (open to USA only)
by EJ on 07/14/11
Welcome to another installment of Summer Craze Giveaway Days... or is it Summer Days Giveaway Craze... Summer Giveaway Craze Days? I don't know! Welcome to whatever it's called... I'm SUPER excited for this week's review & giveaway because I'm reviewing our first toy here at Four Little Monsters.
My kids received four sample PetCakes from Series 2 Forest Animals in the following characters: Honey Cakes, Bamboo Berry, Nutty Nicky and Roco Coco (shown in order above). When I first saw these online, I was reminded of a cupcake doll I had when I was little that I absolutely adored, you could bend her dress up over her head (don't freak out, I'm pretty sure she didn't have any legs) and turn her into a cupcake. She smelled like strawberries or something. Anywho, these little cupcake creatures stole my heart just the same way and PetCakes kindly sent my four little monsters four of their own cupcake friends.
Each stuffed creature wears a "frosting" hat with a cherry on top, or sprinkles, etc. Each character fits nicely inside a cupcake "wrapper" (it's soft). They are the perfect size for cuddling and three out of my four monsters are currently napping with their PetCakes while KM's PetCake is watching her play Wii Fit in the other room.
The PetCakes website will soon offer an interactive PetCakes World, which my KM is desperate to play online, she asks me to check back EVERY DAY to see if it's live yet. There are other PetCakes toys as well, like PetCakes Minis (much smaller, plastic characters in cupcake wrappers).
Since I love back stories, let me tell you all about the company that introduced PetCakes to the world. Well Made Toy, the company behind PetCakes, began in 1966 with Fred Catapano, a $1,000 loan and a sewing machine. Catapano was in business by 1968 and sold rag dolls and stuffed animals from New York to Hong Kong. Well Made Toy eventually created the Tattle Talk Friends line, stuffed animals that repeated what someone said in their own voice. Kind of like this crazy hamster doll I saw in Toys R Us the other day that I absolutely must have (ahem... I mean, I must get for my kids). Seriously, it's super adorable. I digress!!
I say thumbs up to PetCakes, they won over my monsters' hearts and mine, too.
