August Hagley Kids Creek Program, "A Day In the Life"
by EJ on 08/04/12Hagley Museum and Library in Wilminton, Delaware hosts children's program Hagley Creek Kids this Tuesday, August 7th and Sunday August 12th from 12:30 to 4 pm. August's Hagley Creek Kids program called "A Day In the Life" will teach tikes all about 19th century living. Participants will make an Irish lace doily, play 19th century games, learn traditional dances to music, and watch a 19th century baseball game by the Rounders. Kids will discover the tape loom and learn how 19th century clothing was made. They'll squeeze their own lemons, make their own butter and enjoy French potato soup (Sunday only) .
Hagley Museum and Library is located on the banks of the Brandywine River in Wilmington, Delaware. The site of the gunpowder works founded by I.E. du Pont in 1802 sits on a 235 acre spot that transports visitors back to a time of early American industry. The museum includes restored mills, a worker's community, and the ancestral home and gardens of the du Pont family.
Creek Kids activities are included in the cost of general admission: adults $11, students and senior citizens $9, children ages six to fourteen $4, members and children five and under are free.
